Pastor John-Mark uses Jesus’ words from John 14:1-7 to help answer the questions raised from the kids: Where is heaven? Will my family be in heaven?

• Homes – single-family, multi-family, apartments in buildings hold hundreds of families!
• In Jesus’ times, extended families lived together in compound with their livestock – the “father’s house”
• Jesus uses the idea of the extended family home to describe heaven to His disciples
• “I don’t know where heaven is, but I know how to get there.” – Heaven is God’s home, Jesus is the way there
• Our earthly family can be with us in heaven if they follow Jesus, but a new family is given to us (the church) which means everyone in heaven will be family – we are all united in our adoption into God’s family.
   

For adults:

• How do Jesus’ famous words “I am the way, the truth and the life” have fresh meaning when we note they are related to His discussion of heaven?
• "Eternal life is the culmination of the abundant life of the Jesus way" – Agree or disagree? Why?
• How has the church’s emphasis on heaven changed in the last few generations? What is a biblically balanced way of understanding God’s plan to renew all things?
