The Alpha Course was popularized by Nicky Gumbel, a barrister-turned-Anglican vicar. The Alpha Course
is a fifteen-session program which runs over twelve weeks. It is
labelled "a practical introduction to the Christian faith". It is
designed primarily for non-church-goers, those who want to find out more about Christianity, and those who have recently
become Christians. It is a simple way to explore the meaning of life
and an effective way of understanding the Christian faith in a
non-threatening environment.

From the Alpha
Canada Web site
"People come from many different
backgrounds, holding many different viewpoints - but all come with the same
objective: to establish whether Jesus Christ has any real relevance for their
lives."
To get an idea of what Alpha is about, we invite you to preview a
short segment of the Introductory Video. (You will need the Free Real Player
to preview).

What happens at Alpha?
The pub course starts with dinner and the morning course with coffee and breakfast treats.
Each
session we view a video of Nicky Gumbel giving a talk on a specific
topic (see below for list of topics). Following each talk there is time
in small groups for everyone to discuss issues or questions they have,
giving everyone the opportunity to get to know one another while
learning together.
